Sebastián Barahona
I’m a Chilean-born music performer and producer based in Melbourne. My work focuses on merging modern production techniques and electronic elements with traditional approaches to music-making, creating a sound that bridges cultures, genres, and generations.
I completed my studies in bass performance in 2010 at Escuela Moderna de Música in Santiago, where I studied with some of Chile’s most respected teachers. From 2012 to 2018, I toured internationally as a cruise ship orchestra bass player, collaborating with musicians from around the world and gaining a wealth of cross-cultural experience.
Since relocating to Australia in 2018, I’ve developed my artistic project Sound Epiphany, blending organic textures, field recordings, and live looping into immersive soundscapes. I’m also a co-producer and performer in the folk-tronica act Amaru Tribe, and a bassist, recording artist, and performer with the Australian classic hard rock band Stonetrip.
Alongside these projects, I work as a session musician across numerous productions and live acts in Melbourne’s vibrant music scene. I’ve performed on international stages and continue to appear regularly across Melbourne and interstate Australia, both as a solo artist and in collaboration with other musicians.
In addition to performing and producing, I’m dedicated to music education, offering tutoring in instrumental technique, music theory, and production. My artistic practice is rooted in collaboration and experimentation, exploring the evolving relationship between nature, sound, and human experience.
